Michael E. Bourke
Michael Bourke joined NW Financial in September 2018 as a Financial Analyst. He supports the firm’s lead bankers by assisting in the quantitative analysis, structuring and credit analysis, debt portfolios and preparation of New Jersey Local Finance Board applications.
Mr. Bourke has worked on transactions for a wide variety of clients including the City of Newark, the City of Jersey City, the City of Bayonne, and the Township of West Orange. Mr. Bourke has assisted with the preparation of Official Statements and the rating agency process. He has provided analytical support on new money bond, note transactions and refunding transactions. Mr. Bourke has created complex debt models and financial projections for clients and is proficient in DBC Finance software.
One notable transaction that he has worked on was the City of Newark’s $100,110,000 General Obligation Refunding Bonds, Series 2020 which was insured by Assured Guaranteed Municipal Corp. This transaction involved three separate series including the (i) $71,005,000 Qualified General Improvement Refunding Bonds, Series 2020A, (ii) $25,245,000 Qualified School Refunding Bonds, Series 2020B and (iii) $3,860,000 Qualified Water Utility Refunding Bonds, Series 2020C. This transaction provided the City with approximately $13.8 million dollars in net present value savings.
Mr. Bourke regularly performs operations tasks associated with the trading and underwriting of municipal securities. These responsibilities include executing trade ticket entries, disseminating to DTCC, applying for CUSIPs, and submitting Official Statements to EMMA.
Prior to joining NW Financial, Mr. Bourke developed his knowledge of financial markets while attending the University of New Haven. He also served as an intern for NW in the summer of 2017.
