John E. McCormac, Managing Director

Mr. McCormac joined NW Financial in the beginning of 2007 with over 25 years of professional experience in the government and finance industries. Mr. McCormac brings unrivaled knowledge of New Jersey State government and finance to the NW Financial team. Mr. McCormac has been involved in many entrepreneurial endeavors throughout his career. He has also been active in New Jersey government holding a variety of public offices, including New Jersey State Treasurer.

Mr. McCormac began his career as Manager of Governmental Auditing and Consulting at the firm of Arthur Young & Company in the 1980s. In 1988 he ventured on his own, starting McCormac & Company, a small-sized CPA firm specializing in accounting and tax services for retailers, contractors, professional firms and individuals with an emphasis in governmental budget consulting for school districts and municipalities. In 1992, Mr. McCormac brought his accounting and government expertise to Woodbridge Township , New Jersey serving as Chief Financial Officer, and in 2001 he took on additional duties assuming the position of Business Administrator of the Township.

Mr. McCormac was named New Jersey State Treasurer in 2002. In his position Mr. McCormac was responsible for a $28 billion budget and 12 divisions of the State. He served on 74 boards and oversaw New Jersey State economic development efforts, the reform of the State’s corporate tax structure, four state budgets averaging $25 Billion each, and the diversification of the State’s $72 billion pension portfolio.

Mr. McCormac served as the State Treasurer until 2006, when he moved on to work for Ryan Beck & Co. as Managing Director working with New Jersey school districts, counties, municipalities, authorities and redevelopment agencies. He also started The McCormac Group, LLC, a consulting practice that focuses on helping clients develop marketing plans and attract new business. Mr. McCormac was elected to the office of Mayor of Woodbridge Township, New Jersey in November 2006.

Mr. McCormac has received many achievement awards throughout his career including 2004 New Jersey Biotechnology Council Man of the Year, 2004 New Jersey Technology Council Financier of the Year, 2005 New Jersey County College Spirit Award, 2005 New Jersey State Police Appreciation Award, and 2006 New Jersey Society of CPAs Achievement Award.

Mr. McCormac has a Master's of Business Administration from St. John's University and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Accounting from Rutgers University.
