James A. Fagan joined NW Financial Group LLC in 1997, and oversees all of the firm’s securities activities, including sales, trading and municipal underwriting. Mr. Fagan is a Managing Director, bringing to bear over 35 years of Wall Street experience and expertise to structuring and executing taxable and tax-exempt transactions. Mr. Fagan is also actively involved as financial advisor to several of the firm’s major accounts.
As Financial Advisor, Mr. Fagan played instrumental roles in coordinating the pricing of the NJ Turnpike Authority’s 2003, 2005 and 2009 issuances, which totaled over $5 billion of taxable/tax-exempt debt, along with the Authority’s more than $2 billion in derivatives transactions. In addition, Mr. Fagan served in a similar capacity on the $2.8 billion issue for the New Jersey Transportation Trust Fund Authority. Mr. Fagan is serving as financial advisor to the Rahway Valley Sewerage Authority and the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission.
Broker-dealer transactions are another area of Mr. Fagan’s expertise and for which he is responsible at NW. He has acted as senior banker/underwriter on several of the firm’s major transactions. Recent projects include the $43 million Parking Authority transaction for the City of New Brunswick, $60 million Bergen County Improvement Authority (Bergen County Utility Authority) Series A current refunding and Series B delayed delivery bonds, along with the $51 million Hoboken Municipal Hospital Authority Series A convertible tax-exempt and Series B taxable bonds. He has been senior manager for the State of New Jersey, New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority, New Jersey Educational Facility Financing Authority, New Jersey Economic Development Authority, Bergen County Improvement Authority, Hudson County Improvement Authority, Middlesex County Improvement Authority, Union County Improvement Authority, Morris County Improvement Authority and Mercer County Improvement Authority.
Prior to joining NW Financial, Mr. Fagan served as Executive Vice President for ICap, Inc., where he was responsible for underwriting municipal securities transactions, structuring turnkey projects, providing money management and financial advisory services to a host of clients. These projects included the State of Illinois’ lease purchase obligation programs and the Massachusetts and Rhode Island federally mandated emissions control equipment programs. Prior to joining ICap, Inc., Mr. Fagan served as the President of PacifiCorp Capital Securities, where he managed the firm’s proprietary portfolio of municipal and taxable debt and originations. Mr. Fagan also served as Manager of the municipal underwriting desk for Thomson McKinnon Securities and was previously affiliated with Moore, Schley & Cameron, Dean Witter Reynolds, and Merrill Lynch.
